Creamware was the cheaper direction than porcelain. In the popularity of porcelain, Josiah Wedgwood was clever as to bring creamware to the forefront. Queen Charlotte’s service was a form which is also still made. This commission cemented Wedgwood’s reputation and made creamware the most popular type of pottery in Britain. Once porcelain was invented in Europe it was in high demand because of it rarity and its innovative, fresh style it was also a luxurious, expensive item that only the upper class, wealthy could afford. Wedgwood’s first creamware was commercially somewhat successful, but it only became truly popular after Queen Charlotte ordered a tea set in 1765. Wedgwood’s recipe of cream-coloured earthenware known as creamware was so popular in its time because at that moment in history there was a huge demand for Porcelain and a rush to create the prime recipe. These schools are heavily based in sciences and mathematics so it gives the Dissenters a large step up intellectually. This includes Albert Einstein, Josiah Wedgwood and Charles Darwin. The school of the Dissenters has been home to some of the greatest mind of history. In this society they have created their own church, community and school. The Dissenters are a collection of people that do not agree with the ways of the church so in their own way to rebel they have created their own society. Josiah Wedgwood was born 1730 and was not like the rest of the young children of his generation as Wedgwood’s family was part of a group called the Dissenters. When people hear the name Josiah Wedgwood they might think of navy blue and white pottery but in actual fact Wedgwood was the brains behind so much more.
